‘We can inform all OIC member States that Gambia is ready to host the 15th Summit in Banjul’- OIC top Official
27th February 2024 – The President of the Republic of The Gambia, His Excellency Adama Barrow received in audience a high-powered delegation from Jeddah-based General Secretariat of The Gambia OIC Secretariat.
The mission, headed by His Excellency Ambassador Yousef Al Dobeay, the Assistant Secretary General of the OIC, is on a technical assessment mission ahead of the 15th OIC Summit in the country.
H.E. Adama Barrow emphasized that hosting a successful summit is a top national priority for the government, with comprehensive efforts in place.
“Now, the entire government is mobilized towards the summit”, the President said.
He added: “We have given clear instructions to the government, the Secretariat, and friends of The Gambia that we are now 100% concentrated on the OIC Summit”.
President Barrow highlighted the benefits of the infrastructural projects such as the widening of The Bertil Harding Highway, a strategic initiative of the government, which has already begun to positively impact the Gambian population.
‘We will do everything possible to ensure the success of the 15th OIC Summit in Banjul’, the President assured.
Speaking to the press, Ambassador Al-Dobeay expressed satisfaction with The Gambia's progress on infrastructural developments.
‘We can now tell all OIC member States that The Gambia is ready to host the 15th Summit in Banjul on the 4th-5th May 2024’ he reaffirmed.
He also commended the nation's efforts, acknowledging the significant strides taken in completing infrastructural projects. Ambassador Dobeay extended gratitude to H.E President Adama Barrow for his unwavering support.
The team, including the Ambassador of The Republic of The Gambia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and The Gambia’s Permanent Representative to the OIC, H.E Gibril Omar Sallah, paid a courtesy call to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Momodou Tangara, earlier.
Following the courtesy calls, the team had a bilateral with the Gambia OIC Secretariat where important technical details related to the administrative and protocol Summit were discussed.
