50KM URBAN ROAD PROJECT COMMUNITY OUTREACH: BRUFUT

Ahead of the clearing of the Right of Way on some sections of the 50KM Urban Road project site, The Gambia OIC Secretariat in collaboration with its partners namely the Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure (MOTWI),National Roads Authority (NRA), Department of Lands and Survey (DLS) and The Gambia Physical Planning and Housing Department engaged in a community outreach exercise with the property owners affected by the road construction along the P6 road of Brufut- Bijilo.
The event took place at the Alkalo of Brufut’s residence where all parties discussed the plans ahead. The Deputy CEO of OIC Gambia Mr. Essa Bokarr Sey, thanked the community of Brufut for the warm reception and reiterated the importance of national development as well as the need for a right of way for road constructions. 
Mr. Kebba Trawally the Project Manager (NRA) addressed the plans in place for the 50KM road project, which include its durability, street lights, drainage systems, Fibre cables and poles for electricity. 
Mr. Siaka Saidykhan the Senior Lands & Valuation Officer of Department of Lands and Survey (DLS) addressed the community concerns over compensation processes. Valuation of properties affected is currently in process and will be completed prior to demolishment of properties.
